Away Day 2024: Complete Projects in York
Influenced by the three proud University of York alumni among us, Complete Projects met at The Grand Hotel in York for a few days of reunions, introductions and insights.
Complete Projects’ regular away days are a great opportunity for the whole team to meet up with colleagues old and new in a relaxed environment. This year, Complete Projects welcomed two newcomers to the team, Kirsty Howe and Coren Hall. Kirsty is joining us as a finance specialist having previously worked at BP, whilst Coren is working closely with Helen Squared as our Business Development Manager.
Aside from socialising, a fantastic meal and some much needed catch ups, we spent our Friday morning sharing knowledge, as expertly demonstrated by Artiom and James for their insightful sessions on Power BI and Gen AI use cases.
Helen Squared also led an engaging session exploring ways for us at Complete Projects to better communicate our work as experts in both legal and project services.
But the learning didn’t stop in the boardroom!
In the afternoon, the team split in two groups to tour the historic city, one half opting to cycle and the other a more leisurely walk across York’s cobbled streets.
If you’re planning an away day, York is certainly the place to do it - the city is built upon layers and layers of history dating back to the Roman Empire, and there is no shortage of sights to see. As we roamed the city our tour guides took us to York’s iconic landmarks like the Minstrel, the City Walls and of course, the Terry’s Chocolate Orange Factory.
One tour even circled back to our starting point, the Grand Hotel, which we learned opened in 1906 as the headquarters of the North Eastern Railway.
But all good things must come to end, and as we wrapped our sessions (and put our bikes back in their sheds), we always look forward to the next away day!
